Happy Scandalous Thursday wine lovers! This week I tried being vegan, and to my suprise it was very easy. In addition to vegan meals, I tried this organic red wine from my favorite store, Trader Joe's. Bonterra Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 Vintage is made with organic grapes. At Trader Joes the bottle is $11.99. Cabernet Sauvignon is known for creating wines of amazing density and complexity with both concertrated and nuanced flavors. The winemaker states that in making Bonterra Cabernet, they like to add to these layers of flavors by blending in small amounts of other red varietals to add color, texture, and a bit of spice. Varieties and vineyard lots are kept seperate until the best lots are blended together to create the final wine. Tonight I will be pairing this wine with a southwest quesadilla with seasoned vegetables, also from Trader Joes. Of course you all know that I am a huge Greys Anatomy, Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder fan, so I need a glass close by to keep my nerves settled. Everyone that knows me, knows that I absolutley love a bottle of red wine. I learned that this cabernet is barrel aged and offers hints of pepper, vanilla spice and rich berry-plum flavors. From what I heard, this organic California red wine is a consistently good producer year after year of Cabernet Sauvignon. Winemaker is Robert Blue. I highly recommend this wine!!! Cheers!
